The initial therapy session is a space for introductions and setting the foundation for our work together. During this session, we’ll review necessary paperwork, talk through a series of questions to better understand what’s bringing you in, and begin identifying your goals for therapy.
My approach is conversational and collaborative, so while there is structure to the intake, it’s not meant to feel rigid or impersonal. This time is about getting to know you, understanding your experiences, and creating a shared direction for treatment that feels realistic and supportive. You don’t need to have everything figured out, this is simply the starting point.
During our work together, we will focus on goals we’ve identified collaboratively, using an evidence-based approach that is grounded in real-life application. My style is direct, supportive, and rooted in natural conversation rather than a rigid or overly clinical process. I believe meaningful change happens when we can talk honestly about what’s working, what feels stuck, and what keeps repeating.
Throughout treatment, we’ll explore patterns, stressors, and emotional responses in a way that feels organic and reflective, while also staying intentional and goal-oriented. I place a strong emphasis on building skills based on what you are already doing well, making thoughtful adjustments rather than asking you to start from scratch.
As challenges come up, I will offer feedback, insight, and practical tools drawn from evidence-based practices, tailored to your experiences and needs. The goal is not to “fix” you, but to strengthen your awareness, expand your coping strategies, and help you respond to life’s challenges with more flexibility, confidence, and self-trust.
Since treatment is voluntary, your willingness to continue therapy is self-autonomic. This means that you may choose to end your therapeutic journey at any time. However, for appropriate standards, the termination process is decided by both you and I once your goals have been met. You may also consider creating new goals at this time as well.
While you are receiving services, it can be helpful to have tools and information to support your growth and well-being. At Organic Therapy Network, we provide a variety of downloadable resources designed to guide reflection, learning, and skill-building between sessions.
